Photographer, filmmaker, multidisciplinary artist. Raised in Los Angeles. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Available for commissions, assignments, and exhibitions internationally.
Chance Garrick Williams is a photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in California. He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned undergraduate degrees in History, and Art Studio, with an emphasis in Printmaking. In addition, he recently attended Vermont College of Fine Arts, in the MFA in Visual Art program. He learned the basics of film photography from his mother, an avid and skilled amateur photographer. Meanwhile, he developed a passion for language and narrative from his father, a former writer and journalist for print and television.
While an undergraduate, Williams honed his skills in the darkroom, while embracing digital photography, and other emerging technologies. His work examines intersecting themes of transgression, subculture, identity, history, and technology.
Chance observes over twenty-five years of photography, and fifty years on Earth, with the release his first (as yet untitled) monogram, to be released in 2010. He has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for twenty years. He divides his time between there and Los Angeles, and he travels frequently for work and personal enrichment.
