Photographer, filmmaker, multidisciplinary artist. Born and raised in Los Angeles. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Available for commissions, assignments, and exhibitions internationally.
Chance Garrick Williams is a photographer, filmmaker, and multidisciplinary artist based in California. He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned undergraduate degrees in History, and Art Studio, with an emphasis in Printmaking and Photography. In addition, he attended Vermont College of Fine Arts, in the MFA in Visual Art program.
Chance learned the basics of photography from his mother, an avid enthusiast of the medium. He developed a passion for language and narrative from his father, a lover of literature, a writer, and a journalist for print and television.
As an undergraduate, Williams honed his skills in the darkroom, while embracing digital photography, and other emerging technologies. His work examines intersecting themes of transgression, subculture, identity, history, and technology.
He has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for over twenty years, and he divides his time between there and Los Angeles -- traveling often, for work and personal enrichment.
